Run by chef and film maker, Rupert Whitaker, Field Kitchen Oxford is Oxford's one and only mobile pop-up restaurant, providing beautiful three course meals both indoor and outdoor, whatever the British weather! You can 'pop' along (see what I did there?!) to one of Rupert's  regular Hogacre Common Pop-Up events, or have Rupert cook in the privacy of your very own home. Featuring wonderful fresh ingredients, Rupert works closely with Oxford based Cultivate and OxGrow to source thoroughly local produce - all grown within, or just outside of Oxford.
Example dishes include: Medley Farm Broad bean, driftwood Somerset goats cheese and asparagus with vinaigrette; Fricassee of local wild mushrooms, sorrel; Roast pork loin, rubbed with fennel, salt and garlic, crackling; Slow cooked beef cheeks in red wine and bacon; Gooseberry Fool, fresh picked elderflower and lemon biscuit; plus Bilberry, raspberry and redcurrant crème patissier tart.

Continuing with the Pop-Up theme, Sophie's Cookery School is running a number of fabulous classes at various locations throughout Oxford over the coming months, which I will be featuring in my monthly guides - from cookery clubs, to seasonal inspired lesson and regional cuisines, there will be something for all you foodies out there looking to learn something new or just connect with other foodies and talk, well... food! Run by Sophie Grigson and Emma Collen, Sophie's Cookery School can also arrange bespoke cookery lessons for private clients in their homes - so you have no excuses!

Eden opens it's doors to a fabulous world of foodie delights for a day - wander around the Farmers' Market; distract the ankle biters with a free children's workshop, such as sushi making and traditional cookery; or enjoy live cookery demonstrations from Simon Rimmer and Ivor Peters.
There will also be a number of samplings throughout the course of the day, from food venues within Eden itself, including Zizzi’s, Wagamama, Frankie & Benny’s, Yo! Sushi, Nando’s and Cafe Italia.  All this PLUS there will be a chance to win a Smart Raspberry cookery class for 6 children and the Ultimate Foodie lovers hamper, worth £300!

Packed full of features, expect musical performances from Rodriguez, Empire of the Sun, Noah and the Whale, plus stunning circus acts, late night revelry, stage theatre, promenade performances, musical overtures, talks, symposiums, magic, games, a well being area, outdoor events and LOADS MORE! For the foodies, there are a plethora of treats... Russell Norman of Soho based Polpo will be serving up a Venetian inspired banquet; celebrated chef, Mark Hix, will be creating a fabulous Wilderness Banquet; Yotam Ottolenghi, Guardian columnist and owner of Ottolenghi and NOPI in London, will be creating his own unique Banquet; Michelin starred St. John, from Smithfield London, will be serving up glorious feasts for breakfast, lunch & dinner; plus Thyme at Southrop Manor, the luxurious Cotswold hideaway and foodie destination, will be running an encampment at this year’s Wilderness Festival, with a wide-ranging programme of talks, tastings, hands-on cookery classes and workshops.... to name just a few!

Buy cake, eat cake, help raise money for mental illness charities & challenge taboos surrounding depression.
The Depressed Cake Shop is charity event, in aid of mental illness, running at various locations around the World. With one in four people suffering from mental illness during the course of their lives, The Depressed Cake Shop intends to raise awareness and encourage discussion, by selling grey coloured cake, with each of the pop-up cake shops donating any money raised to a mental health charity of their choice. Run by Caroline Knight (keen baker and employee at well known local cafe Jacobs & Field), the event needs your support... whether by baking cakes, buying cakes, or simply turning up to support!
